Wet Felting

Hello everyone :) Today's post is going to be about wet felting. I am creating a series of samples that are based around the theme of natural forms for my college project. I thought that I would share some of the techniques that I've been using :)

This is the wool top that I used to act as a base.

I then started to layer up the colours using different types of wool, mostly merino top but also Wensleydale wool too. This was an experiment and I didn't know how well it would felt until I tried it - but that's what it's all about!

Next I took my felting outside as I could use an old table that had a whole in it to drain the water. I didn't fancy flooding the kitchen floor ;)

I just kept adding water and soap and kept massaging the wool.

I then started to roll the felt with a rolling pin to help agitate the wool.

I have left this piece out to dry and will check back in with you when I finish the sample! I hope you enjoyed seeing some wet felting and I look forward to updating you all on my samples :)

Thank you as always

Lucy x
