Felting: College Sample 1

Hello again my lovelies! I have finally finished my samples for my college project and I thought I would share them with you :)

We started the course by experimenting with lots of different textile processes such as screen printing, felting, embroidery etc. We then had to create our final samples using the techniques we liked most and the theme was natural forms.

I chose to use mainly felting as that's what I liked best but also what I'm most confident with. I'm not skilled with a pencil or paints I very much like constructive techniques.

I went out and took pictures around where I live to get some inspiration for my felting.

This is my first sample, it was inspired by one of my dad's plant boxes in the garden. I wet felted this piece but I didn't felt it completely as I wanted to have some pieces loose to add texture and interest to the sample.

This is supposed to be abstract and just a representation of the photograph I took and I wanted it to be open to interpretation.

If you would like to see more of the process that I took to make this piece then you can click here to go to my wet felting post where I'm actually making this sample. There are two videos also on this post :)

I have made two more samples that will be coming soon in new posts so please look out for that!
